How can Pilates help during pregnancy? Pilates is one of the best forms of exercise to do during pregnancy because it strengthens the most important muscles women will use during pregnancy and labor. It is also safe.

The most important benefits that Pilates exercises can give to a pregnant woman is increased core stability and the strengthening of abdominal, back and pelvic muscles.

In our studio we teach you to control your pelvic floor muscles, use breath and focus to relax and strengthen your core abdominals to support your spine and posture. We also stretch your body and work on your muscle tone to maintain your bodies condition during the pregnancy.

These sessions allow you to have a more comfortable pregnancy and in most cases an easier delivery. As the pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, bowel and uterus it is very important that they are strong for the control of incontinence especially after the birth.

All of our clients who have been through their pregnancies with us say that they feel their recovery from their birth back to their ‘normal’ body is enhanced and quicker due to doing Pilates throughout their pregnancies.
