First we start with an easy way you can keep your body looking it’s best these holidays without the regular routine of gym and personal trainer!
Summer – Season of Fire
Whether it’s the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, the healing Ayurvedic and yoga practices of India or the philosophy of Feng Shui and traditional Chinese medicine all holistic medical philosophies teach that each season has an element that depicts the cycle of the body.
In recent decades these ancient practices have had a renewed acceptance and we are again embracing the idea that our health, our organs and the balance of our lives are affected by the cycles of the seasons.
When we think of summer we think of heat, the sun, long days, fun and being energized. It is about warmth and vitality.
It is when we our bodies are at their peak during the year.
Fire rules the heart and our cardio vascular system so we need to nourish and care for them in this season.
Believe it or not cardio is what the heart needs in summer!
Your heart is a muscle and summer is the season to raise our heart rate and up the exercise. This type of exercise will keep your muscles in shape and make them stronger. You will have a more efficient, fit and healthy body.
Begin with 10 minutes each day and in no time you will build your stamina and start to see the difference!
Try creating your own little circuit doing sets of 5 x 30 repetitions of each exercise. Rest for 20 seconds and then continue with the next set. Repeat the entire sequence and build it up each week until you can do 30 to 40 minutes!
Before you begin exercising please make sure that you are safe.
- If you have any heart or health issues speak to your doctor before starting to exercise.
- Make sure you wear good shoes.
- Make sure you are on flat ground or a non-slip level floor.
- Modify or vary the exercises to suit your level of fitness if you need to. Don’t be a hero.

TIP: Just so you know jumping jacks burn 100 calories in 10 minutes!
